Pella has the installation instructions you need for windows, patio doors and entry doors.

The instructions are divided by construction type: full-frame replacement, pocket replacement and new construction.

We've also built installation booklets if you prefer to download several instructions at once by frame type: nail fin, block or box frame, brickmould and flush flange.

Wood Interior Trim Options and Coordinating Accessories

Wood interior trim from Pella is available two ways:

Trim ordered by the lineal foot

  • Ready for cutting and installation at the job site.
  • Curved trim is ready to be trimmed to fit on the jobsite, and works with many curved openings (windows, doors and transoms).

Exterior Wood Trim

Installation Materials

Pella® SmartFlash® Window and Door Installation Tape

Tough and Durable
  • Stands up to UV exposure resists degrading when exposed to sunlight.
  • Can be applied in extreme temperatures as low as 0o F.
  • Creates a weatherproof seal to help avoid expensive leaks.

Fast and Easy to Use
  • Applies easily eliminates messy caulking.
  • Tears to length.
  • Minimizes tape build-up trims and J-moulds lie flat while remaining strong.
  • Compatible with most polyurethane, silicone and other sealants.

Pella SmartFlash installation tape comes in 50' and 150' rolls. Approximately 16' is required for an average-sized window and 36' for an average-sized two-panel door.

Tested to the Max to Ensure Maximum Performance
We simulated the most severe weather and environmental conditions even in the absence of siding materials to ensure that our Pella installation methods would hold up. The scope of this battery of tests is at the right.

Exposure to Sunlight Tests to ensure no stretching or deterioration of the seal when exposed to xenon/ultraviolet light.
Chemical Resistance1 Tests to ensure no adverse reactions to common chemicals found in residential or commercial environments.
Hot/Wet/Cold Tests to ensure no deterioration of the seal in extreme moisture and temperatures.
Severe Moisture Tests to ensure that the seal is maintained under adverse moisture conditions.
Sealant Compatibility Tests to ensure no reaction or deterioration with various sealants, including polyurethane and silicone-based.

  • Flexible seal permits expansion/contraction.
  • Seal can be applied in temperatures as low as 35o F (or lower if can is warmed to 35o F).


Pella Windows and Doors Installation Sealant

Pella Window and Door Installation Sealant is a one-component, multi-purpose, fast cure polymer-modified polyurethane sealant that is environmentally friendly and adheres to all Pella window and door frames and common construction materials, including aluminum, steel, vinyl, painted metals, wood, glass, flashing and underlayment papers.
